Fishing at Highbullen

The Highbullen Estate is situated on a branch of land between two of Devon’s best rivers for enjoying a spot of fishing. This relaxing pastime can be relished on either the River Mole, both of which are within easy reach of Highbullen’s grounds.

The River Mole, which is a tributary of the River Taw rises Exmoor and joins the Taw only two miles from Highbullen. The River Mole is good for fishing either sea trout or salmon and is the past salmon of up to 15lbs and sea trout of 4lbs have regularly been caught. The largest salmon caught in the Mole was 24lbs and sea trout 12lbs. Higbullen’s own beat on the River Mile, which is less than two miles from the estate is a ¾ mile stretch of single bank fishing with several pools. Please note fishing is limited to two rods per day at a cost of £30 per rod and must be booked in advance. An EA license is also required when fishing on the river. The fishing season is as follows: salmon - March 1st to September 30th; sea trout and brown trout from March 15th to September 30th.

Highbullen can also arrange fishing on other rivers such as The Taw and The Bray, a ghillie and tuition from experienced local fisherman can also be provided.
